The kazinga channel is located just a few meters from the Mweya safari lodge and just about a drive of 1 hour throughout the park from most lodges within and outside the park. The kazinga channel is 32 kilometers long and it joins two lakes Gorge and Edward. The boat cruise at the Kazinga channel is the most done safari activity at the lake, it’s too rewarding with incredible views of many species of wildlife that live and feed on the lake just meters from the boat especially during the drier seasons. Some of the species of animals a must-see at the Kazinga channel include schools of hippos and crocodiles while buffaloes, elephants,s and many various species of antelopes can be seen along the shoreline. Not only animals but the channel is a home to many various species of birds, so birders are gifted a lot of ounces they take a visit to the kazinga channel.

Over 70 species of birds can be seen during a launch cruise at the Kazinga channel, some of the species of birds expect to see include the Kingfisher, white-faced whistling, African fish eagle, great and long-tailed cormorants, pelicans and lucky visitors can spot the rare shoebill stork. The boat cruise is a two hours activity and it can begin from either 2 pm or 5 pm, guides are available at the boat to give you relative information on any species of wildlife you come across to make this safari informative and educative. Photography is very clear here at the kazinga channel since many species of animals and birds come and feed on the lake while others come and cool off at the shoreline hence giving a chance for better sighting and photography.
